Hypospadias
Hypospadias is a birth defect of the penis. A penis with this defect has it's pee hole in the wrong place. Precisely it comes out at the bottom of the penis rather than at the tip.
How Common Is It?
More common than you might imagine. About 1 in 250 males is born with this defect. That means there are about 600,000 males in the United States that today that were born with this penile defect.
How Does It Effect The Function Of The Penis?
Not that much really. It just means that pee (and semen) comes from underneath the penis instead of from the tip. Many times a man with Hypospadias will pee sitting down instead of standing up because aiming is made more difficult because of the placement of the pee hole.
Can It Be Corrected?
It can be corrected with surgery with surgery but that surgery can be very dangerous and may make matters worse rather than better.
